It's NFAC time

It's NFAC time again, when artists on eBay do any sized art based on a theme (this month is Birds and Bees) and list it for 99¢.

I had help from Rattie and painted a bumble bee and a stuffed turkey and of course Rattie. I did this on a nice thick acrylic paper with a base of watercolor, then colored pencil and gouache. I am in the mood to try different things lately.

I also listed my ACEO from yesterdays post.

Thanks for stopping by!

Nibblefest aka NFAC

This is my art for NFAC this month. In case you're not familiar with Nibblefest it is a themed monthly contest on eBay and starts the 20th of every month and auctions start at 99¢. This month the theme is Trees & Rivers.

Trees have never been my strong point artistically so I just concentrated on the trunk, based on a tree in my backyard, and added a few bits of swamp grass, a frog and of course the river and a rat.

The thing I like about NFAC and the ACEO theme week is that it get's me to do things I normally wouldn't do. I almost didn't do this theme due to the tree and it's just so freaking hot I could barely think but I am glad I made myself do something.

Hope you manage to stay cool today.

NFAC in July

NibbleFest (NFAC) started last night on eBay. This month the theme is 'Dramatic Light', so I did a rat finally finding his way out of a sewer. I had a cat I was going to list but it got too late by the time I had the listing ready so I will list it tonight. It is 5"x5" on black stonehenge paper and features my cat Fluffy with the sun really setting off all her pretty fur.

It was hard to scan the sewer rat piece and retain some of the subtle gray shades. I scanned it numerous times at various settings before I was happy with it. And then I have to hope it looks halfway decent on all the various monitors out there.

I also scan at night and my room doesn't have the greatest lighting so it can be quite a chore.

In other news it is raining here today. At least is isn't that hot so I don't mind.

Have a great day!

A couple of rats dealing with summer in their own way, one at a bar and the other looking wistfully at his neighbors pool over the backyard fence. The summer here has been decent so far, today is the first day of awful humidity so I am sure I will be cranky by the end of the day.

I am trying to think up some ideas for my rats and cats and how they can best spend their summer.

Also on the horizon is NFAC (Nibblefest) on eBay, this month the theme is 'Dramatic Light' which should be fun. NFAC starts on the 20th. I have a vague idea of what I want to do and am trying to decide if I am brave enough to list something bigger than an ACEO (2.5"x3.5"). There are a few days left to decide.

I hope this post looks OK when it is published as I am trying out a few new things with the layout.

My nephew has made it safely to Mali and is learning French.

Well, signing off now and thank you for stopping by!

June NFAC

Yesterday, June 20, was the start of the NFAC (Nibblefest) contest on eBay. This month the theme is 'Things with Tails'. That is a good theme for me since I mostly do rats and cats and they both have tails. To add something a bit different though I choose to have my rat flying a kite, which also has a tail.

Little rattie looks happy to be out on a beautiful day, flying his kite, without a care in the world. To see more themed art search NFAC on eBay. All NFAC art starts at 99¢ and can be any size.

I will be listing more ACEOs tonight. I have one finished and will be working on more today.

Today marks the start of summer, although with the cooler temperatures and rain, you wouldn't guess it in my area. Since heat and humidity are the worst weather combo and a staple of summer life in NJ, I prefer this cooler weather even if it comes with rain.

Hope you are having a nice start to your summer.

Nibblefest starts tonight on eBay at 7:00pm eastern time. Search NFAC.

This will be one of my entries (I am hoping to get another one finished today), so tune in to see what the story is with Gumby, Pokey and a rat friend.

Thanks for stopping by.

Is it spring yet??

Hello all (waves to Gail and Dru). There was a big snowstorm in these parts on Sunday night. I hadn't watched the news all day, and there was just about an inch late at night, so I was surprised to wake up to a bunch of snow. I had done this ACEO on Sunday and thought the snow in it was exaggerated, but it turned out to be a self fulfilling prophecy.

I hope the snow doesn't hurt my crocus, which were just coming up, they were about a quarter inch tall. I usually don't notice them until there are a bunch, but I am so sick of this winter, I am looking for any sign of spring. (I do reserve the right to bitch about summer and say I can't wait for the colder weather.)

It is ACEO theme week time on eBay again. This month the theme is Caterpillars, Butterflies and Ladybugs. In my research I came across a Hickory Horned Devil Caterpillar, which I found to be quite unique. I love the 'horns' coming out of his head. (Reminds me of an axolotl.) He hasn't gotten a bid yet so I guess I am the only one who finds him handsome. haha. You be the judge:

I didn't post about the NFAC (NibbleFest Art Contest) last month but better late than never. The theme was Vintage Cats, so I dressed my Beanie up in proper 50's fashion, pearls and gloves. I, along with two other artists, came in first place with 9 unique bids.

I do hope to post more regularly this month. Thanks for stopping by!

NibbleFest time on eBay

Every month on eBay the NibbleFest group, founded and run by platypus, has an art contest. Art of any size is listed at 99¢ and is based on a pre-choosen theme for that month. For example, this month is Christmas Trees, next month will be Chickens, so if you love chickens, check out NFAC December 20th.

This rat trying to take the Santa on the Moon ornament is my interpretation of the Christmas Tree theme. It is ACEO sized (2.5"x3.5") To see all the art go to eBay and put NFAC in the search bar, or click my rat to see my auction and a link to all the other entries.

Another fun themed art contest is from the ACEO group founded by bone*diva. This themed contest begins the first of every month, with a price starting of $4.99. The art must be ACEO sized since it is after all, the ACEO group. So look for this contest on December 1st, search eBay for ACEO TW.
