Commission paintings

I've done a few commission paintings these past few weeks, a pretty dog, who had passed away, for my niece to give to her boyfriends mother, and a friends new grandson. I like to do different things to show that I can do more than cats and rats! haha I like cats and rats because they are so familiar, with dogs or other critters I have to research where their whiskers are, the bone structure etc.

Well, now that I am done yakking about the paintings, I will actually show them:

I've also done a few Lionhead Rabbits, something new for me. This painting is available on eBay now. I had permission to paint this from the photographer, M Zavita. Thanks!

Well that about sums up the new paintings in my life. I hope to have more to show you soon.

Sneak Peek at new painting

Hello, I am posting my newest 11x14 acrylic painting. I hope to get a better scan tomorrow and will be listing it on eBay. Now I am off to dreamland and I hope when I wake up the bad weather will have gone. It was raining and super windy all day.

Horse and Rats painting

I had actually started this painting years ago and decided to add rats to it to jazz it up, plus the stable door has been reworked to look a little fancier. Sometimes paintings just need to sit until the right inspiration hits.

I call this 'Three Pals' and it is listed on eBay.

It looks like it going to be a nice weather week in NJ so it will be nice to work without shivering.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Acrylic ACEOs and a Tee Shirt in the Works

Above are my two latest ACEOs and probably the last featuring summer activities until next season. The ratties will be getting out their fall wardrobe. These are done in acrylic paints, one on Art Spectrum Colourfix Paper, (this is the first time I've painted on this paper) and one on 185 lb Acrylic Paper my old time favorite for acrylic ACEOs.

It was fun painting again, it's been a while. I may try a combo of paint and colored pencil. And I may break out my watercolors again. I learned how to watercolor in art school and for years it was my favorite medium.

The reason for my wanting to paint for a change comes from looking through my older art for things to put on my Zazzle site. (see link to the right). Most of my earlier works were acrylics and it reminded me how I should use them again.

I am also working on a drawing for a tee shirt featuring a rat. It will be printed in white ink on a dark tee shirt.

My nephew gets sworn in today as a Peace Corps volunteer. He has been doing well over there and seems to like it. I never realized what a social butterfly he is.

Well I'm off, thanks for stopping by.

Something a little different

Before I get to the something different I will show you what I came up with for ACEO theme week on eBay. (Search ACEO TW Sep). The theme is 'Harvest Festival' and the story is that before I could draw the harvest of squash, zucchini and eggplant, this rattie had grilled it up and put it in a roll with pesto. So I just had to draw her enjoying the harvest along with her soda and chips.

Now for the different. Below is an acrylic painting I did a few years back titled 'Death by Chocolate'. I have put it on a mug in my Zazzle store.

Zazzle has a lot of great items. If you love squirrels (and who doesn't?) you simply must check out the fabulous photography of poozybear. The shots she manages to get never cease to amaze me! She has other critters too.

Have a nice day and thanks for stopping by!

Sunday evening I listed another ACEO on eBay featuring Flicka the cat patting a rattie on the head.
I was all set to draw up some more ACEOs today at work and discovered that I left my colored pencil bin at home. What to do, what to do...

Well, I got out my paints and a small Windsor & Newton canvas (5"x3") I had bought and painted up a cute little rat peeking at you (see him below). I have been meaning to paint again and even make New Year's resolutions that I will do at least one canvas painting a month. That doesn't seem unreasonable and yet I never manage to do it. Maybe now that I have a forced start it will give me the momentum needed to continue. There are more little canvas's just waiting around for some paint.

Thanks for stopping by!
